A. Ruth (nee Rinehimer) Whalen was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Attorney Whalen graduated from Wilkes College in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  She obtained her Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in 1997.  She had been a paralegal and associate at the Wilkes-Barre law firm of Holland, Brady & Grabowski, P.C., where she concentrated her practice in the areas of insurance defense litigation, guardianships, estate planning, and estate administration.   

In September, 2006, Attorney Whalen opened her own practice in Kingston, PA.  She concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and guardianships.   

Attorney Whalen is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals.  She is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association, Lackawanna County Bar Association, and Monroe County Bar Association.   

In addition to the practice of law, Attorney Whalen is a lector and past parish council member at St. Nicholas R.C. Church, member of the Board of Directors of Northeast Counseling Services, past president of Northeastern Pennsylvania Claims Association, and founding member of the Downtown Residents’ Association of Wilkes-Barre.   

Attorney Whalen resides in Wilkes-Barre.  Her hobbies include tennis, golf, reading and socializing with her friends and family.
